Kpop Girl Groups 2017 Review (First Half).

             So it's time to write year review again. Same as last year, basically I will give a quick review about what happened each month last year , pick one girl group from each of my blog last year, the girl group of the month.(one group per month). And we will see the result....
             And I will write the first half of the year 2017  first.

January

             At Jan 2017, there are quite a few big event happened.
           1  Comeback of first generation girl group S.E.S.
           2  Disband of YG girl group 2NE1. (2NE1 without Minzy)

           3  Disband of Produce 101 girl group I.O.I
   Since late 2016, there are various rumor about first generation kpop girl group S.E.S. will make comeback in early 2017. And eventually , they chose Jan 1st 2017 as their comeback day.S.E.S. is considered one of the most popular kpop girl group from late 90s to early 2000s.

                                   So girl group of the Jan is S.E.S.







February

           More and More girl groups comeback and debut this month, mostly cute concept girl groups such as Twice, Red Velvet, Gugudan, Lovelyz. 
           The most well known one is the knock knock comeback from Twice. After its release, it was reported that the new album sold more than 310,000 copies in pre-orders within a week. Just after few hours, the song achieved an all-kill by placing #1 on 8 real-time charts including Melon, Mnet, Bugs, Naver, Olleh, Genie, Monkey3, and Soribada.

March

       After Feb, there is a cool down for kpop girl groups comeback, not many girl groups comeback at March, But 3 major girl groups choose comeback at the same time,GFriend, Girl's Day and Red Velvet.
       Among them, the most successful one is GFriend. After release of "Fingertip",they've already reached over 2 million views with almost 150,000 likes as well in just 14 hours. And G-Friend got their 1st #1 with their comeback title, which made them the most successful girl group comeback at March 2017.

April

      After March, there are not major kpop girl group comebacks, but quite a few relatively unknown girl groups comeback at April. Among the well known ones, APink, EXID, Oh My Girl and the new Dream Catcher got some attention.
        At April 18th 2017 , it was revealed that Apink would be giving Pink Pandas a special gift in honor of their sixth debut anniversary. Over the past six years, the group has received a great deal of love for their consistently innocent, youthful image and undeniable talent.

            So girl group of the April is APink

May

     There are two major event for kpop girl groups this month. The release of Twice Signal and Disbandment of Sistar.  Overall, there are only 6 girl groups comeback last month, which is far less than previous month, most girl groups enter inactive period.

Starship Entertainment confirmed that the project will be the last comeback for Sistar and they will officially disband after their 7-year promotions as a group.

Once are receiving the message loud and clear as TWICE's newest title track, "Signal" has achieved an all-kill on all 6 major music charts shortly after its debut! Their title song "Signal" managed to snag the #1 spot on all 6 real-time music charts, making for a clean all-kill despite strong contenders like Psy and Unnies

June

              June 2017 is a big month for kpop girl group comeback, many news surrounding at this time.3 mojor event happened this month is huge success of BlackPink, APink comeback death threats, and disband of As One

              APink Bomb thread top the kpop news this month.

the longest running kpop girl duo As One announced disband at 2017(finished their 18 years of career)

 Within 17 hours after release, the music video for "As If It's Your Last" gained more than 11 million views on YouTube, becoming the fastest music video to exceed 10 million views by a K-pop group, which broke the record previously held by BTS's "Not Today" of 10 million views within 21 hours. 
         Furthermore, the music video became the second most viewed online video in the first 24 hours by a Korean act, with more than 13.3 million views within 24 hours after release, second only to Psy's "Gentleman".
