Kpop Girl Groups Update June 2018

      It's time to update the blog again. Since It's the world cup time this month, so my blog is kinda  late than usual. But for June 2018, the girl group comeback is very predictable and overall a bit less than May this year.

       On June 15, the group released their debut EP titled Square Up. The single “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” debuted at number 17 on the Official Trending Chart in the United Kingdom, making them the first female K-pop group to enter the chart since its launch in 2016. The single also debuted as the highest-charting Hot 100 hit ever by an all-female K-pop act, opening at number 55 with 12.4 million U.S. streams and 7,000 downloads sold in the tracking week ending June 21, 2018, according to Nielsen Music. The only other all-female K-pop group with a Hot 100 hit to its credit is Wonder Girls, who scored one entry with "Nobody" in 2009, the track debuted and peaked at number 76. “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” also debuted at number 39 on the US Streaming Songs tally, where Black Pink became the first K-pop girl group to chart a title. The single also sat atop Billboard World Digital Songs, making it the group’s fourth number one hit on the chart. Square Up also brought the group their first entry and the highest-charting to date by an all-female K-pop group on the US Billboard 200, debuting at number 40 with 14,000 album-equivalent units, surpassing label mate 2NE1's 2014 record with their last album Crush which peaked at number 61. The EP also topped the Billboard World Albums chart. 
          In South Korea, Square Up debuted at number one on Gaon Albums Chart. The single “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” peaked at number one on the Digital, Download, Streaming and Mobile charts on Gaon in its second week, while “Forever Young” also managed to peak under top five.YouTube's official tally saw the music video for "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" garner a total of 36.2 million views within 24 hours after its release and became the most viewed online video in the first 24 hours by a Korean act and second most watched music video of all time, surpassing lable-mate Psy's "Gentleman" and behind only Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do

Momoland - Baam

It was confirmed on June 7 that they would be releasing their fourth EP titled Fun to the World.
MOMOLAND's new single "Baam" has become a hot topic among K-pop fans due to its similarities to the group's last hit, "Bboom Bboom.Listeners have noticed that the two songs, which were both produced by Shinsadong Tiger, have similar structures and styles. One thing to notice, Momoland is getting popular gradually after Bboom Bboom













Elris - Summer Dream

I already introduced this group before in detail and I quoted them as one of the potential new kpop girl group who might become big in the future.
On June 6, 2018, Hunus Entertainment confirmed that Elris would be coming back on June 28 with their third mini-album titled Summer Dream.On June 28, their third mini-album was released.












Fromis 9  - DKDK

  I also introduced this group before, so I won't repeat. They are so adorable, lol...
Fromis 9 remained as a eight-member group to released their second EP, To. Day, Member Jang Gyu-ri was not involved in the album due to her participation in Produce 48.

Busters - Grapes

Ok, this is NOT a commercial for grapes wine, it's a MV from the girl group Busters.
They are not brand new girl group, but I didn't introduce them before, so I will briefly talk about them here.
Busters is a five-member kpop girl group formed by Monstergram Inc. and JTG Entertainment(why two companies and their relationship not clear so far).  In 2017. Busters were formed to promote Monstergram upcoming TV series Idol Rangers Power Busters.They released their debut single "Dream On" on November 27, 2017, and they made a comeback with their second single "Grapes" on June 12, 2018.
